Chapel Hill Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory
نویسندگان
چکیده
Executive summary This report estimates greenhouse gas emissions in tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) for fleet vehicles, street lights, and traffic signals operated by the Town of Chapel Hill from 2005 to 2008, and makes policy recommendations for the future reduction of such emissions. The authors are undergraduates studying at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, who have compiled the report as their capstone class project.

According to the Australian Greenhouse Office’s (AGO) National Greenhouse Gas Inventory, agriculture contributes 17.7% of Australia’s net national greenhouse gas emissions (Fig. 1), and is the dominant national source of both methane (67.9%) and nitrous oxide (77.1%) gas in Australia (AGO 2004). Methane and nitrous oxide are potent greenhouse gasses with global warming potentials of 21 and 310 ...

In August 2000, the California Legislature mandated that the California Energy Commission (CEC) update California's state-level inventory of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by January 1, 2002. This paper discusses the results of this inventory development effort, including (a) the process of harmonization with data and research results from other California state agencies and institutions, (b) t...
متن کاملManaging Greenhouse Gas Emissions for Airport Inventories: An Overview
For some years now, problems relating to gas emissions that affect climate and result from human activities have assumed a global dimension of large importance. The climate is, indeed, influenced by the concentrations of some pollutants in the atmosphere; these pollutants trap the long wave radiation emitted by the Earth and alter the energy balance, causing an accentuation of the natural green...
متن کاملDevelopment of a Consistent Methodology for Estimating Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Oil and Gas Industry Operations
Understanding the sources and quantities of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is critical to developing an emissions inventory that accurately represents various oil and gas industry segment operations. To address this, the American Petroleum Institute (API) formed a Greenhouse Gas Emissions Methodology Working Group. The working group’s objectives were to review, summarize and recommend methodolo...
